Saturday, January 25, 2020 8:00AM to 5:00PM
Open and free to the public
Middle school bands from all over Oregon will perform on stage and then receive a post-performance clinic with one of three clinicians. These same clinicians will also give written comments to each group.
Guest clinicians for 2020 are Stuart Welsh, Band Director at West Albany High School, Colorado Paniagua, South Albany High School Band Director, and Brian McFadden, Grant High School Band Director.
The festival is designed as an educational event and not as a competition. All bands receive positive critiques to help them grow and to encourage them to continue practicing the art of music. Outstanding Musician Award Certificates will be presented to students throughout the day. Also, each band’s performance will be recorded by West Albany HS Event Tech class students.
Thanks to the many generous donors, businesses, and organizations throughout the area, each participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt. Concessions, fresh baked goods, and additional items will be available for purchase as well with all proceeds supporting the North Albany Middle School Band Program.
One of the highlights for the day is the “Noon-time Jazz Jam” featuring all the participating band directors as well as the guest clinicians. This inspiring, exciting concert is an opportunity for the teachers to collaborate in the art they teach every day, and the kids love it!
