Cycle Oregon has added a third ride to its lineup of its annual bike tours, which were created to provide financial support for the state’s rural communities while highlighting some of the best roadways and scenery in the world. The new ride, called CO3 is a small upscale tour limited to 30 participants.
CO3 features more challenging routes and more luxurious amenities than other Cycle Oregon events, including farm-to-table meals and deluxe lodging. It also gives riders the ability to make deeper connections to the host communities. Participants will have the opportunity to choose a project that Cycle Oregon will help support via $30,000 generated by CO3 proceeds.
The 27th edition of the Cycle Oregon Week Ride (September 6-13) promises up close and personal views of seven different Cascade peaks as well as the Columbia and Deschutes rivers and some of Oregon’s most spectacular high desert. The route begins and ends in The Dalles and winds its way through alluring host communities including Glenwood in Washington and Dufur, Tygh Valley and Madras in Oregon. With mileage options ranging from 402 to 489 for the week and between 30,000 and 35,000 of climbing, this will be one of the more challenging routes in recent history.
The Weekend Ride (July 11-13), which is geared toward riders of all ages and skill levels, will take place at Linfield College in McMinnville. Routes on each of the two riding days range from just over 10 miles to as many as 83 miles. Highlights include the Yamhill River, luscious vineyards (and wineries) and the Evergreen Aviation complex.
The route for the inaugural CO3 ride (June 19-24) includes the communities of Walla Walla and Waitsburg, Washington; and Enterprise, Halfway and Baker City, Oregon. It will cover 330 miles and 24,000 feet of climbing in five days. Highlights on the road include the daunting Rattlesnake Grade, the grueling up-and-over from Enterprise to Halfway, and the ascent to Anthony Lakes ski area. Participants will enjoy five delectable, fresh dinners and stay in the region’s best historic hotels and rustic lodges. It’s the next level of Cycle Oregon.
