Dancing Oaks Nursery and Gardens will host its 2nd Annual Pollinator Festival on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nursery, located at 17900 Priem Road in Monmouth.
The festival will feature local experts from non-profits, including the Audubon Society of Corvallis, Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District, Corvallis Environmental Center, Marion and Polk County Master Gardeners, Oregon Bee Project, Oregon Flora Project, and Xerces Society, who will answer questions about pollinators and gardening for pollinators. It will also feature educational activities for kids and adults, including garden walks, materials and instruction for creating your own mason bee nest, a scavenger hunt, and much more. There will be plant giveaways and discounted pollinator-friendly plants. Food and drink vendors, In-Fusion Vietnamese of Salem, Natural Sprinkles Bakery of Albany, and 1859 Cider of Salem will also be on site from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Last year we hosted hundreds of gardeners and bee, butterfly, and bird enthusiasts of all ages at our first Pollinator Festival,” says Leonard Foltz, Nursery Co-Owner. “In our second year, we’ll offer more ways to celebrate pollinators and to learn what we can all do to help them. Pollinators are vital to our food production system and the vitality of our natural environments, yet they continue to decline worldwide. Even small changes in our backyard gardens can help them on the road to recovery.”
10% of the nursery’s proceeds the day of the event will be donated to The Oregon Flora project (www.oregonflora.org). The event takes place during National Pollinator Week, June 17-23 (https://pollinator.org/pollinator-week).
The Pollinator Festival is free and open to the public. For more information, visit https://dancingoaks.com/pf or call (503) 838-6058.
