It’s a night of non-stop emotion and exposure as Portland’s Edna Vazquez takes to the Grand Theatre stage on Sun., Feb. 19, 7 p.m. with a special Mariachi twist. Backed by her band and special guest Mireya Ramos (founder and violinist of New York City’s Mariachi Flor de Toloache – as seen on tour with Dan Auerbach’s The Arcs), Vazquez returns to Salem for an intimate evening of acoustic music from across her career including original songs composed for Mariachi.

Edna Vazquez is a Portland-based,openly gay, Latin American singer/songwriter who performs original compositions that pay homage to her international influences with a passion that comes through in every note of her music. Vazquez’s songs are deeply rooted in in universal human emotion providing a message of light, love and cultural healing. Her ability to lift the spirits and touch the hearts of each and every audience member is an experience one must see for themselves.

“Edna is one of those rare, truly authentic talents that strives for impact in her craft,” stated Carlos Barata, Enlightened Theatrics Marketing and Public Relations Manager. “We’re thrilled to serve as a stage where she can express herself intimately and engage with our community.”

From Jalisco, Mexico to East L.A. at the age of 17, Hillsboro and now Portland, Vazquez has come a long way in her journey. “I have been performing for Salem audiences since the late 90’s as a Mariachi singer and musician. Since then, life has found me composing original music that defies genres. The music and melody just come to me and my songwriting has allowed me to connect with more people with a bigger message.
I know my roots though, and this show is about bringing together some amazing musicians for an opportunity to unite my past and present art.”
