Enlightened Theatrics Announces Four Shows for 2018 Season!

Salem’s professional theatre company, Enlightened Theatrics, announces its 2018 season featuring 4 full-length productions! Enlightened Theatrics’ Founder and Executive Artistic Director, Vincenzo Meduri, is very proud of the 2018 line-up: “We have continued our tradition of choosing eye-opening narratives that tell important stories for all audiences. Our 2018 season will transport you from the Deep South of Georgia and Texas to London’s Mod and Victorian eras. It includes a farcical comedy, swinging sixties hit songs, a Sondheim musical sensation and a small-town radio show where two actors play 22 different characters. We are thrilled to continue our vision of elevating the Salem experience through live theatrical performances and look forward to seeing you at Salem’s Historic Grand Theatre!”

New this year, Enlightened Theatrics offers single price ticketing- all seats are $28.00 for adults and $25.00 for youth! Season tickets are on sale now and holders receive a special discount at $95 for all four shows, plus 10% off additional tickets. A 3-show flex package is also available for $75. Individual production tickets go on sale 6 weeks prior to opening night, so get the good seats now with season tickets!

The season features The Foreigner running from March 7-March 25, Shout! The Mod Musical from May 16-June 10, Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street from October 10-November 4, and ends with A Tuna Christmas, December 12-30.

The Foreigner is an inspired comic romp that follows shy guy Charlie as he navigates a visit to a rural Georgia fishing lodge. Desperate to be left alone, Charlie pretends to be a non-English speaking foreigner; but he soon finds himself an unwitting confidant and advocate for the other residents of the lodge who are mixed up in their own schemes and romantic intrigues.

Set in Swinging London, SHOUT! The Mod Musical chronicles the liberation of five women who redefine themselves in the face of changing attitudes toward gender roles. SHOUT! features terrific new arrangements of classic tunes such as “To Sir with Love,” “Downtown,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” “These Boots are Made for Walking,” and “Goldfinger.”

Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street has become a bloody, worldwide success since being awarded eight Tony’s (including Best Musical), for its Broadway premiere. Stephen Sondheim’s tasty, thrilling, theatrical treat has simultaneously shocked, awed and delighted audiences across the world.

A Tuna Christmas is the hilarious sequel to Greater Tuna, where it’s Christmas in the third smallest town in Texas. Radio station OKKK news personalities Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie report on various Yuletide activities, including hot competition in the annual lawn display contest. “The hilarity…never lets up.”- The Village Voice
