The “Panem Et Circenses” exhibition addresses and challenges the entertainment society, at full display in Eugene in July, and their neglect of wider concerns. A detached populace restraining itself in search of and addicted to diversion and distraction.
This special group installation at New Zone Gallery will visually reflect on the glaring disparities between pompous stadium spectacles while basic human needs continue to drift through war, poverty, racism, pollution, climate chaos and vast wealth inequalities. It will visually ask the question: ‘Is society addressing basic human needs with the same intent for success as our athletic events and entertainments?’
If you can’t make first Friday don’t fret, the show remains through the month of July 12-6 daily.
