Enlightened Theatrics, Salem’s newest professional musical theater company, presents Jason Robert Brown’s hit musical, The Last Five Years. Performances will be held at the Cyrus Reed Theatre in the Historic Reed Opera House January 30, 31, and February 1, 2, 6-9.
Starring Jill Vanderoef as Cathy Hiatt and Jeff Ostermueller as Jamie Wellerstein, The Last Five Years is a contemporary musical that ingeniously chronicles a relationship, from meeting to break-up… or from break-up to meeting, depending on how you look at it. An intensely personal and often funny look at the relationship between a writer and an actress told from both points of view, The Last Five Years gives the audience an intimate and hopeful look at love and life.
Ms. Vanderoef hails from Florida and has performed regionally all over the country, including Enlightened Theatrics’ first production, Once On This Island. Mr. Ostermueller comes to us from New York City and was last seen in Oregon on his tour with the Broadway musical, Spring Awakening. Enlightened Theatrics has also brought in a professional Music Director, Mr. Micah Young, who has performed regionally, nationally, and for many Broadway musicals. The production also includes a six-piece orchestra featuring notable local musicians.
All performances begin at 7:30PM except for Sunday matinees, which will begin at 3PM. Doors will open a half hour before the show begins. In addition, Enlightened Theatrics has teamed up with the new, Archive Coffee and Bar, to provide coffee, drinks, and snacks for each performance.
Tickets are $20 and are available at www.EnlightenedTheatrics.org
