Performing at Art and the Vineyard
July 4, 8:30 pm to Freedom Festival Fireworks
The Maude Kerns Art Center is proud to present David and Linda LaFlamme of the 1960s-era, Columbia Gold LP Recording band, It’s A Beautiful Day, headlining on Monday, July 4 at the Art and the Vineyard Festival, from 8:30 pm to the Freedom Festival Fireworks. Famous for its self-titled 1st LP — It’s A Beautiful Day — the band was one of the most important groups in San Francisco to emerge from the Summer of Love. Among the band’s most well-known songs is ”White Bird (In A Golden Cage).” Along with music from its first LP, the band plays newer original music from more recent CDs and albums, encompassing folk, jazz, psychedelic, and rock and roll sounds.
It’s A Beautiful Day Band includes original member, classically trained violinist and singer David LaFlamme, a former soloist with the Utah Symphony Orchestra; his wife and original band member Linda LaFlamme on vocals; original drummer Val Fuentes; 36-year veteran Toby Gray on bass; 16-year veteran Gary Thomas on keyboards; and Rob Cunningham on guitar.
Art and the Vineyard attracts over 20,000 visitors over the 3-day event, which features nearly 100 artists in the Artists’ Marketplace, over 20 Oregon vineyards in the Wine Court, an International Food Court, a Youth Art Arena and Stage, an Art For Your Garden area, and Main Stage entertainment.
The Art and the Vineyard Festival has new hours. On Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3, the festival opens at 10:00 am and closes at 9:30 pm. On Monday, July 4, gates open at 10:00 am and remain open through the Freedom Festival Fireworks. For more information, contact the Art Center at 541-345-1571, or visit www.artandthevineyard.org.
