Visit Corvallis and PreservationWORKS will launch the 8th season of the Historic Trolley Tours on Saturday, July 8. This year’s tour follows a new route with 36 sites from 5th to 13th Streets and Washington to Taylor. Beginning at the iconic Benton County Courthouse, the 1 1/2 hour tour includes institutional, commercial and industrial buildings as well as more than 20 outstanding historic homes. Knowledgeable guides offer history of the homes, architectural details, and how they all add to their neighborhoods’ and Corvallis’ story.
“The Trolley Tour is a traditional part of our outreach and great fun,” offered BA Beierle, President PreservationWORKS, a local educational organization.
The tour departs from the front of the Benton County Courthouse, 129 NW 4th Street on most Saturdays in July and August. Parking is available in the City Hall lot or ride the bus to the transit center. Arrive at 12:50 as the tour departs promptly at 1 pm. The Trolley is air-conditioned and accessible to all.
“The historic trolley tours fill to capacity every year,” said Mary Pat Parker, Executive Director, Visit Corvallis. Tour-goers with reservations are seated first; walk-ons are accepted on a space available basis. While the tour is free, donations support the program.
