Cória Estates to Open Wine Tasting Room in February
SALEM, OR — Cória Estates, one of the Willamette Valley’s newest wineries, will officially open its tasting room doors on Valentine’s Day – Saturday, February 14, with special activities being held throughout the weekend. Activities include free wine tasting flights, a special wine and chocolate pairing and live music. Guests will also receive a 15% discount on all bottles and a 30% discount on case purchases. The festivities will run from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Cória Estates is a boutique, family-owned winery located in the rolling hills of South Salem. The 80-acre vineyard is owned by Luis and Janice Cória under the name A&E Farms – named for their two daughters, Aurora and Elizabeth. Fifty-five acres were planted in 1999 with a mix of mature Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris vines. An additional 25 acres were planted with Pinot Noir vines in the spring of 2008. Twenty acres of Pinot Gris as well as five acres of Chardonnay will be planted in the spring of 2015. The winery currently produces approximately 900 cases each year.
Most of the Cória family is involved with running the vineyard and winery. Luis oversees the farm and vineyards while Janice handles the bookkeeping and finances. Daughter Aurora holds a degree in winemaking from the Chemeketa Wine Studies Program and serves as the head winemaker. Her husband, Brandon Day, handles marketing and promotions for the winery.
In the fall of 2014, the Cória family had the old kitchen of the farm office converted into a small, boutique tasting room. Numerous lawn tables and a covered, outdoor patio with a central fire pit offer places to relax and enjoy views of the vineyard and surrounding hillside.
Cória Estates winery and tasting room is located at 8252 Redstone Rd SE in Salem. Tasting room hours will be noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, starting February 14.
