In a benefit for the Benton County Democrats, Roy Zimmerman, the country’s premiere political satirist, returns to Corvallis. “ReZist!” is ninety minutes of Roy Zimmerman’s hilarious, rhyme-intensive original songs. The concert is at 7 PM on Friday, July 13 at Wesley Hall (upstairs) in the First United Methodist Church at 11th and Monroe in Corvallis. Note that this is not a church sponsored event.
What can one person do about racism, gun violence, climate change, income inequality, bigotry, ignorance, war and greed? “Write funny songs,” says Roy Zimmerman. For over twenty years on stages, screens and airwaves across America, Roy has brought the sting of satire to the struggle for Peace and Justice. His songs have been heard on HBO and Showtime. He’s shared stages with Bill Maher, Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, John Oliver, Kate Clinton and George Carlin. He’s been profiled on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and recorded for Warner/Reprise Records. His YouTube videos have garnered over seven million views, and he’s a featured blogger for the Huffington Post.
“Sometimes I think satire is the most hopeful and heartfelt form of expression,” says Roy, “because in calling out the world’s absurdities and laughing in their face, I’m affirming the real possibility for change.”
No Depression Magazine says, “Without a doubt, Roy Zimmerman is among the most important political commentators of the last few decades, and in the end, it’s the music that unites and disarms. With music this good and humor this insightful, there is good reason to be optimistic.”
Join us for a great evening with a very unique performer for a good cause. Advance tickets are on a sliding scale from $20-$30 at Grass Roots Books, online at tickettomato.com, or at the door.

The Los Angeles Times says, “Zimmerman displays a lacerating wit and keen awareness of society’s foibles that bring to mind a latter-day Tom Lehrer.”
Joni Mitchell says, “Roy’s lyrics move beyond poetry and achieve perfection.”
Tom Lehrer himself says, “I congratulate Roy Zimmerman on reintroducing literacy to comedy songs. And the rhymes actually rhyme, they don’t just ‘rhyne.’”
“Progressive Americans are asking how to resist,” says Zimmerman, “how to deal with the hourly outrages of the Trump presidency. Ghandi said, ‘First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.’ I say, first WE laugh at THEM…and that’s all I’ve got so far.”
