The Oregon Garden will create a charming and authentic holiday experience for guests later this year with “Christmas in the Garden,” an event based on a traditional German Christmas market. Christmas in the Garden will take place from 4 to 9pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from November 29 through December 22.
Visitors will board the Holiday Express tram, where they will be whisked through The Garden to arrive at the beautifully decorated Rediscovery Forest. They will walk through a candy-cane light tunnel to arrive in a winter wonderland, where they can shop from artisan vendors selling handmade goods, drink traditional glühwein (hot spiced wine) and other adult beverages, and take in the smells and tastes of roasted nuts and German foods. There will be intimate fire pits scattered throughout the forest as well as lit vignettes made of Christmas lights. Carolers, local school choirs and acoustic guitarists will provide live Christmas music.
“We are very excited to introduce this new holiday experience to our guests,” explained Brittney Hatteberg, marketing director for The Oregon Garden. “It will be a very authentic, cozy holiday event that we hope will become a tradition among families for years to come.”
General admission is $5; $4 for Oregon Garden members; and free for children 4 and under. Each paid admission receives five $1 vouchers to be used at any booth in the market, including food and beverage. Vouchers may be used one per booth, per purchase, per person. Parking will be free at The Oregon Garden.
Christmas in the Garden will also feature Santa Claus and his live reindeer on December 6 through 8; photos with Santa will be an additional charge. Pony rides will be available December 20 through 22; cost is free with a suggested donation of $1 that will go to benefit The Oregon Garden and Canyonview Camp.
