Join the fun this August and September at events like the South Sound Block Party, Olympia Harbor Days and more
Experience Olympia & Beyond, Thurston County’s visitor and convention bureau, welcomes guests to an incredible array of public events across the county. Throughout August and September, they will feature music and beer festivals, a bike race for charity and a historical boat showcase.
“We are excited to welcome visitors from around the region to Thurston County,” said Annette Pitts, chief executive officer of Experience Olympia & Beyond. “The programming we have in place ranges from established events drawing from a deep well of community engagement to large-scale ones that will introduce Olympia to new audiences from all corners of the world. There’s something for everyone this summer!”
The events kick off early August and run through September; several will be free to attend.
2022 Olympia Brewfest | Admission: $30 (presale) | 21 and over
When: August 6, 1pm-8pm
Where: Port Plaza
What: The Olympia Brew Fest is an annual summer beer festival featuring 20+ hand-picked, northwest breweries and over 40 different beers. There will be live music and food by a variety of vendors and proceeds from the festival benefit the Thurston County Chamber Foundation Small Business Development (Incubator) Program.
Love Oly SummerFest | Admission: free
When: Every Saturday from August 6 to August 27, 12pm–6pm
Where: Downtown Olympia
What: The Olympia Downtown Alliance is pleased to announce LoveOly SummerFest 2022, the annual free street festival in historic downtown which includes live music and performances, activities for kids and families, local vendors, and more.
Tumwater Artesian Brewfest |Admission: $30 (presale) | 21 and over
When: Saturday, August 20, 1pm–8pm
Where: Tumwater Valley Golf Course Driving Range
What: There will be more than a hundred beverage choices in all, not to mention delicious food, fun games, and captivating entertainment. The Tumwater Artesian Brewfest provides a unique outdoor venue (in the shadow of the former Olympia Brewery) for aficionados to sip craft beers from 40+ NW breweries, along with cider, wine, and spirits; savor food from local vendors and restaurants; play supersized beer pong or putt-putt golf; enter stein-holding competitions; and more.
South Sound Block Party | Admission: $65 for the weekend or $35 each day
When: Saturday and Sunday, August 26 and 27, 3pm–10:30pm
Where: Port of Olympia
What: The South Sound Block Party is a two-day music festival on the water, with live bands, local vendors, a beer garden and food trucks. Enjoy regional and national touring acts on the banks of the Puget Sound.
Olympia Harbor Days | Admission: free
When: Friday, September 2, 5pm–8pm; Saturday, September 3, 10am–7pm; Sunday, September 4, 10am–6pm
Where: Olympia Waterfront
What: Olympia Harbor Days is an annual free family celebration of maritime heritage over a weekend of entertainment, food, art and history, hosted by the South Sound Maritime Heritage Association and supporting the tugboat tradition since 1974.
Reach the Beach: Cycle for Air | Admission: $65, $35 (early-bird)
When: Saturday, September 24, 10am
Where: Lacey, Thurston County Regional Athletic Complex
What: Hosted by the American Lung Association, Cycle for Air events have raised more than $29 million in the past 35 years. Now in its sixth year, Reach the Beach Washington is a bicycle tour from Lacey to Westport. Racers will traverse trails and pass through small communities on their way to the beach.
