Deluxe Brewing to participate in the world´s largest simultaneous collaborative beer brew
On Thursday, April 23, 2015, the German Reinheitsgebot will start in the 500th year of its existence. Reinheitsgebot is also known as the “German Beer Purity Law” where the only ingredients that could be used in the production of beer were water, barley and hops. BESTMALZ®, a traditional German malting group, is taking the anniversary to invite brewers to take part in an international brewing event unique in its kind.
Deluxe Brewing will participate in a Guinness World Records listing for the largest collaborative brew ever. This record will be established when brewmasters in six continents will make their beer collaboratively linked together on #BestBrewChallenge Internet communication platform.
All brewers must start at the same time, 3 p.m. CEST (Central European Summer Time), so Deluxe Brewing will start their mash at 6 a.m. A unique recipe was created by owner and head brewer, Eric Howard. The style will be a NW Vienna Lager and will be available the beginning of June.
The first ever #BestBrewChallenge 2015 will demonstrate that – although the prescriptions of the German Reinheitsgebot give a common set of rules – these rules are well suited to mash together quality orientation, top ingredients, and utmost creativity on the part of the brewmasters.
The goal of the challenge is to create as many different beer tastes as possible within the rules of the Reinheitsgebot and on the common basis of minimum 25% BEST Red X® malt which all brewmasters will be using. The top tastes will be selected and honored by a jury of international beer sommeliers in Heidelberg, Germany later in the year.
