The 20th Annual Labor Day Weekend Art Walk in Toledo is fast approaching! I’ve been busy repainting my studio/gallery in preparation for the event and am excited to be showing a lot of brand new pieces this year. My studio at 167 NE 1st will be open from 10 am to 5 pm daily Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Maps for the self-guided tour of artist studios and galleries in Toledo will be inserted into the Newport News Times Friday edition and will also be available in my studio. I will be serving refreshments including wine and Twisted Snout ales.
This year I have invited fine art landscape photographer Carla Axtman to show with me in my studio. Carla has been a friend of mine for several years and I am so pleased she will be joining me. Raised in the beautiful valley of John Day, Oregon, she attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon and then settled for a time on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. Carla relocated to the Portland metro area in 1995, renewing her love affair with her home state. She loves creating images that demonstrate her passion for the Pacific Northwest. Carla’s images have been published in Time Magazine and with the Portland Japanese Garden. This year I will have a tent in my front garden and will be hosting several presentations so that whenever you come by, something interesting will be going on. Throughout each of the three days, look for the following events:
11:00 – Clayton Young will be presenting a variety of his affordable, hand-crafted artist materials, including heavy-duty gallery-wrapped canvasses, his new pro-Stretch polyester canvas, float frames, stretchers, and easels.

– Stuart Miller, owner and brewmaster at Twisted Snout Brewery in Toledo, will be offering tastes of various ales and answering questions.

– Carla Axtman will be discussing her inspiration and process and answering questions.

– Becky Miller will be discussing her inspiration and process and answering questions.

– Fulton Miller will give a live vocal/guitar performance.
