Maybe you clicked on “Farm Report” from the main page or clicked on a link from Facebook to find out what this is all about. Maybe you heard about this project from friends or one of the farmers we’ve talked to. For whatever reason you’re here: Welcome!
So, what, exactly, are we doing?
Well, we were sitting around talking about story ideas and, along with all the other “brilliant” ideas, we thought, “why not do something with farmers?” We know that there are other media sources that cover farming and agriculture and we think they do a great job. But, we thought it would be good to speak directly to our audience.
For the next year or so, we’ll be telling the stories of some of our Willamette Valley farmers. We’re not just going talk about one and move on, but stay connected with as many farmers as possible to find out what’s going on at any given time over the next year. You’ll hear stories of their successes and lessons learned. You’ll see baby lambs, pigs, cows, and other critters. You’ll see Spring plantings of crops and Fall harvesting. And, most importantly, you’ll see the passion and dedication that our farmers have for their craft and the things they will do to make sure we can all enjoy the food that they provide.
There are more details to come, but expect a lot of regular updates, here, as well as in Willamette Living Magazine. We’ll have great photos, video, and interviews with farmers, and hopefully we will do a good job telling their story. This is a very special project for us and we’re excited to really get things rolling.
Oh, if you are interested in being involved in this project, we are always seeking to communicate with more farmers and those who are involved in the whole process from growing a crop to consuming the final product. Please contact Dennis at dennis at willametteliving.com if you have any interest, questions, facts, etc. We may even have you write a blog post or article for us.
More to come…
Dennis
